Batttioke

What a night to remember! To all who made Battioke a success, we offer a heartfelt THANK YOU. With your great energy, vocal prowess and incredible generosity, we raised over $180,000 to fund scholarships and educational opportunities for deserving future leaders at Miami Central High School, Big Brothers Big Sisters Miami, and beyond. We hope you enjoyed the night as much as we did!

Our talented pool of singers ran deep this year, and we were thoroughly entertained by all who took the stage. Shane and Jason Jackson’s opening number, an interesting spin on Shallow (from A Star is Born), was unforgettable…to say the least. Kelly Olynyk and his sister Maya performed a brilliantly coordinated rendition of What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction. Heat forward Duncan Robinson made his Battioke debut, as did 49ers wide receiver Pierre Garcon. Larry Johnson and Carlito joined us again, and WWE’s Big Show reprised his 2018 championship-worthy performance of Funky Cold Medina. Heat GM Andy Elisburg proved to be an unlikely star of our show, igniting our crowd with Soul Man, the Sam & Dave/Blues Brothers classic, and capturing the Battioke championship belt. For those not lucky enough to have been in attendance, Andy’s got moves like you wouldn’t believe! Another round of applause and our sincere thanks to all who performed – we know it’s not easy and we greatly appreciate your efforts.

Our emcees for the night, LA-based comedians Andy Wood and Brandie Posey, kept us laughing while energizing our performers and ensuring things ran smoothly. We are also thankful for the talents and energy of auctioneer CK Swett, a long-time Take Charge supporter.

The funds we raised at Battioke will enable us to select a new class of GUIDE scholars and offer them all a full, 4-year Florida Prepaid college scholarship, in addition to quality mentors and college prep programming we offer. Needless to say, your generosity will help change the lives of some incredibly deserving youth. We are confident that these scholars will go on to effect positive change in their communities and beyond.
